SALFA DISPENSARY EJEDA

It is a locality of the area of Toliara in the Western South of the island. It is also an arid area which depends much on the rain. The food crops are “cassava”, corn and rice. If harvest is not good, the population is also threatened by the " kere ", we say the lack of food .

The Hospital of Ejeda was set up by American missionaries and several american doctors worked there, especially Dr. Stanley Quanbeck which was the first director of SALFA.

The population is also rural and poor in this area.

The Hospital of Ejeda is one key of development in this area, but this hospital is often confronted with financial problems because it provides the electric power of the city. The expenditure from fuel for the electric generator is too heavy to be supported only by the hospital.

It is the single hospital where there has an unit of surgery within 100 km in the surrounding and saves many people of this area.
