For example, from 7 – 9 April 2007, a training session was held at the FAF/Shalom center of SIRANANA in the northern part of the island of Madagascar (out of Antsiranana), where Nurse Hery resides.
The TBAs who attended this training seminar were as follows:
| NAME | YEARS OF WORK | BABIES DELIVERED | LOCATION | DISTANCE |
| KALO Ernestine | 35 | many | Ankazomborona | 28 Km |
| TOMBOZOKY | 25 | many | Ankazomborona | 28 Km |
| BERTHINE | 28 | many | Ankazomborona | 28 Km |
| MBOTY Josephine | 20 | many | Ankazomborona | 28 Km |
| JULIETTE | 18 | > 60 | Ankazomborona | 28 Km |
| SOAVOLA Antoinette | 22 | > 80 | Ankazomborona | 28 Km |

The trainers consisted of two male nurses, Mr. ANDRIAMBAHINY Heriniaina, who works at Siranana, and Mr. RIVOSEHENO Nicolas, who works at the FAF/Shalom center of Ankazomborona.
From the above list, one notes that twelve TBAs participated: six from Ankazomborona, and the remaining six from the district of Siranana. There were no travel expenses for the two TBAs who live closest to Siranana. The other four, however, came by bus for part of the way. Those who traveled from Ankazomborona all traveled by
Malagasy bus.
Each of the attendees (TBAs) have worked for a minimum of 18 years, with some working 30 years, so they each have a lot of experience. It is difficult to estimate the exact number of deliveries for each TBAs as they were formerly not in the practice of writing the deliveries in a notebook.
Each of the TBAs from the Ankazomborona region had a relative living in the vicinity of where the training session was held. Thus, there were no problems with their living quarters.
Different subjects taught were as follows:
7 April 2007:
- Asepsis and hygiene: Cleansing of material used
- Methodology of cleansing to be done: “minimum of hygiene”
8 April 2007:
- Supervision of pregnant woman: “pre-natal consultation”
- Simple observation of foetus location: “presentation”
9 April 2007:
- Demonstration
- Return demonstration by each individual
A follow-up training seminar was held at SIRANANA from 28-30 April 2007.
All circumstances were the same as the first seminar, except for the subjects taught.
28 April 2007:
- Difficult deliveries
29 April 2007:
- Symptoms when emergency measures required during pregnancy & delivery: “signs of alarm”
- Emergency measures to be followed BEFORE taking a pregnant woman to the health center
30 April 2007: Closing Session
- Evaluation: “questions covering the subjects from the first two days”
This report was written by the two nurses and the supervising physician, Dr. Pierette.
